HOCKEY FOUNDATIONSSIX WEEKS LIVE ON ZOOM

THE MATCH

Twenty-two kids chasing a ball. One of them keeps checking the sideline.

THE SIDELINE

They hear every word.
They keep the wrong ones.

THE WIDE SHOT

Every parent watches the match from too close.

From a distance, the score is the smallest thing on the field.

SATURDAY, 19:06

Did you have fun?

Four words that raise athletes. Six weeks, live on Zoom, for hockey parents.

MEET THE COURSE
PARENTING FOR PEAK PERFORMANCE

Raise a resilient competitor
without losing the relationship.

Hockey Foundations is a six-week live programme on Zoom for parents of hockey players aged 12 to 18, coached by Steve Evans OLY. Thirty founding seats. You leave with a written plan for your child, a clear idea of your job, and a better conversation on the way home.

HOLD YOUR SEAT
THE DRIVE HOME

The drive home should not feel like an interrogation.

School sport has professionalised faster than anyone prepared parents for. Matches are filmed and analysed, trials start at thirteen, and specialisation arrives before most children have worked out what they enjoy. You are funding it, driving to it and watching all of it, with no framework for what good support looks like at fifteen as opposed to twelve.

So you improvise. You go into fixing mode in the car after a bad match because it is the only tool you have. What comes back is silence, or it goes up in flames. Neither of you wanted that, and neither of you knows how to stop it happening again next Saturday.

WHAT HOCKEY FOUNDATIONS IS

Five elements behind every good young player. Your role in each one.

It starts with a gap. You and your child score all five separately, without seeing each other's answers, then look at the difference together. Most parents find in the first week that they have been solving the wrong problem.

01

Technical

THE ELEMENT

What good skill development looks like at each age, from first XI hopefuls to provincial trials.

YOUR ROLE

How parents either speed it up or quietly slow it down, and which one you are doing now.

02

Tactical

THE ELEMENT

Reading the game well enough to be useful at the dinner table.

YOUR ROLE

Asking the questions a coach would ask, without becoming the back-seat coach.

03

Physical

THE ELEMENT

Load, conditioning and the growth dips that look like a loss of form.

YOUR ROLE

Spotting when tired is something more, and knowing when to say nothing.

04

Psychological

THE ELEMENT

Pressure, motivation, identity, slumps and big-match nerves.

YOUR ROLE

The conversations that actually help, and what your face says at two all.

05

Peripherals

THE ELEMENT

Recovery, sleep, nutrition, injury management, and an honest look at drugs in sport.

YOUR ROLE

The home environment as a performance decision, not a set of chores.

Then the Blueprint. One page showing where your child actually is, where the gaps sit, and the conversations that close them. Yours to keep and revisit each season.

WHAT YOU GET

Six weeks. One written plan. A parent who knows the job.

6LIVE SESSIONS

Six live one-hour sessions on Zoom with Steve, in the evenings, South African time.

1BLUEPRINT REVIEW

One written review of your family's Blueprint, by Steve, not by a template.

2WORKSHEET SETS

One for you, one for your child. Written separately, shared by choice. Not evidence in an argument.

30FAMILIES

A parent cohort group for the six weeks. Small enough that every family in the room gets heard.

REPLAYS

Every session recorded and up the same night, so a fixture never costs you the course.

+THE CHEAT SHEET

The Tactical Hockey Cheat Sheet: one page of the communication anchors Steve uses as a coach, so you and your child talk about matches in the same language.

THE COACH

Three seats at the same table: the player, the coach, and the parent.

Steve Evans played 96 times for South Africa and at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. He has coached at the elite level for twenty years and is President of the South African Olympians Association. He has three kids between 11 and 17 in the same school system you are in, and he stands on the same Saturday sidelines.

“I see kids mid-game looking over to the sideline for the approval of their parents.”

FOR THE PARENT WHO WAS NOT ON THE CALL

Straight answers.

My child sent me this. What is it?
A six-week live course for you, the parent, run on Zoom in the evenings by an Olympian who coaches and parents in the same school system. Each week your child scores a short worksheet and you score the same one. The course works on the gap between the two. It is for parents of hockey players aged 12 to 18.
How long is each session?
One hour, once a week, for six weeks. Live on Zoom in the evenings, South African time.
Do I need to know hockey?
No. Most parents on the course do not play. You learn enough to be useful at the dinner table, not enough to coach.
What if we miss a session?
Every session is recorded and the replay goes up the same night. The worksheets and the Blueprint review do not depend on being there live.
Who is this not for?
Parents looking for someone else to fix their child. The work is yours. It is also not for players under 12; the worksheets assume a child who can score themselves honestly.
How much, and how do I pay?
R2,995 once, or two payments of R1,595. By card, through the secure Xperiencify checkout. Thirty seats, then a waiting list for the next cohort.

THIRTY FOUNDING SEATS

Six weeks. Live. Thirty families.

Thirty, because Steve reads every family's Blueprint himself. One hour a week, live on Zoom in the evenings, South African time. When the thirty are gone, the next cohort opens at the full price.
